Nail Care
|
| To keep your nails clean, wash hands in water, apply mild soap and lather. Then take a soft baby tooth brush and gently scrub the tips of your nails with it. Do this regularly.
While filing nails, don't use a back and forth motion, it damages the nails. Instead file nails in a single direction |
 |
|
Don't push the cuticles of your nails too far back, this might cause bleeding and infections.
Remove chipped nail polish with a (preferably) acetone free nail polish remover
Apply a base coat of transparent nail polish before painting your nails with dark colors. Doing this will prevent your nails from getting discolored
Apply the same transparent polish on top of your nail polish to prevent it from chipping off easily
If you do not like using colored nail polish, apply the transparent one to protect your nails
Don't chew on your nails

| Keep Nails Looking Good |
| If your nails are short, use light colored (peach, pink, flesh toned), frosted nail polish
Don't let your nails grow too long, they'll look like claws
Choose nail colors that complement your skin tone. If you are dark, steer clear of bright reds, oranges and purples, choose light colors instead. Light colors some earth tones flatter wheatish skin. Fair skinned hands can carry off almost all colors

| Nail Painting Tips |
|
Clean your nails with warm water and soap before putting nail polish.
Shake well the bottle containing nail polish or roll it between your palms before painting your nails.
Put base coat on your nails before painting. |
 |
|
Give three strokes of nail polish to cover each nail. You may start with the centre, move on to the left and then right. Or first with the right, centre and then left.
Do not put more than 2 coats of polish. Allow the first coat to dry before you put the second so that no air bubble is trapped in between and the paint on your nails looks smooth.
If the nail polish in your bottle thickens, add a few drops of thinner to dilute it.
Use acetone free nail varnish remover as acetone dries up nails.
Store all bottles of nail polish in a cool, dry place.
